Clinical Practice

This module brings together the learning from other components in a practical context. Here you will gain more experience of working with chronic cases and face more case management challenges and so put into practice what you have learned in Philosophy. We will specifically consider the skills needed to take a child's case effectively and go into the practical implications of potency choice enabling you to gain greater confidence. In addition, all students will participate in supervised teaching clinics and tutorial groups throughout the course.

Practitioner Development

This component of the course integrates the personal development of the individual as a reflective, professional practitioner and the more practical aspects of developing and managing a practice. We will consider a variety of challenging ethical issues and use tools to help us find ways to resolve them. We will work on reflection, peer feedback, appropriate use of supervision and establish the methodology of clinical audit. All students receive 1-to-1 supervision sessions during the course as well as other support to enable them to grow and develop into competent and safe practitioners.

Health Sciences

This module continues the work started in the Diploma Part One course and goes into greater depth regarding the connections between mental, emotional and physical ill-health. We will look again at when it is safe to treat patients and when it is best to refer.
